Tax Law LL.M.
In the Tax Law LL.M. program, we do more than just teach tax law; we train tax lawyers.
As the economy becomes more global and sophisticated, tax lawyers must have the knowledge and expertise to serve both individuals and entities. Since its inception in 1995, the program has been dedicated to providing students in-depth instruction and guidance in technical and practical aspects of tax law. Our program teaches the necessary skills for innovative tax planning in all areas — federal, state and local, international and estate, gift and trust tax.
The Tax Law LL.M. is uniquely situated in the Pacific Northwest, which is home to the world's largest non-profit organization and leading corporations such as Microsoft, Starbucks, Amazon and Expedia. As such, the tax program is able to draw faculty from a dynamic legal community. Courses are taught by nationally recognized scholars and leading practitioners in their area of specialty, who bring cutting-edge practice experience to the classroom. Our program also offers several experiential learning opportunities, including the Federal Tax Clinic, the Rural Alaska Tax Assistance Program and externships.
Our practice-oriented curriculum accommodates both traditional students and working professionals. Most classes are offered in the late afternoon or early evening. Students may apply for admission to any quarter and students may enroll on either a full-time or part-time basis.
