2019 CASRIP Summer Institute

The CASRIP Summer Institute is the benchmark for intellectual property programs in the United States. The Summer Institute teaches the fundamentals of patent prosecution and patent litigation. It also identifies and covers important legal questions on cutting-edge topics impacting business and innovation. Summer Institute faculty has previously included distinguished professors, patent examiners from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and legal practitioners from the Seattle region and beyond.

Patent Basics and Current Issues in U.S. Patent Law

July 15–19, 2019

The CASRIP Summer Institute offers an intensive course on the fundamentals of United States patent law taught by seasoned teachers and special guest lecturers. Students will receive an introduction to the basic components of U.S. patent law. Topics covered include the rules governing patent eligibility, the novelty requirement under the America Invents Act, the latest developments in the law of obviousness and patent claim construction, and evolving infringement theories. Students will obtain a solid overview of the full spectrum of patent law in the United States.

Global Innovation Law Summit: IP & Innovation in China Today

The Global Innovation Law Summit (GILS) brings together thought leaders from around the world to discuss the most up-to-date issues confronting innovation economies (and aspiring knowledge-based economies). Developed from the renowned CASRIP High Tech Summit, GILS builds from that strong network to explore the full range of IP, technology, and creative content legal and policy issues. GILS also provides a networking opportunity for the popular CASRIP Summer Institute.

Global Innovation Law Summit (GILS) focuses on issues drawn from the news of the past year. The day will focus on examining procurement and enforcement of IP in Asia.
