In September 2025, Chris McCleary retired after 10+ years at the US Olympic & Paralympic Committee in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He served as General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer for the USOPC, leading operations across finance, legal, ethics & compliance, information technology, events & logistics and facilities.
He joined the USOPC as general counsel in 2015, leading a team of legal professionals responsible for all USOPC legal, contract, intellectual property and dispute resolution matters. He also led USOPC’s governance work and served as corporate secretary to the USOPC board of directors. McCleary also led USOPC anti-doping work and partnerships with the World Anti-doping Agency, U.S. Anti-doping Agency, White House Office of National Drug Control Policy and the Partnership for Clean Competition.
Prior to his work at the USOPC, McCleary held a number of roles including at Visa Inc. and practiced at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in San Francisco, California.
McCleary serves as President of the Sports Lawyers Association. He earned a bachelor’s degree and a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan. He and his wife live on Bainbridge Island, WA.
