LAW B 523 Negotiation

Mr. Muchinsky joined the UW law faculty as an Affiliate Instructor in 2023. He teaches Negotiations.

Mr. Muchinsky graduated from the UW School of Law in 2001. He has spent his career in general civil practice, developing emphases in complex commercial litigation, landlord/tenant, trust and estates litigation and more. He proudly represents clients ranging from billion-dollar businesses to private citizens of limited means. He owns Illuminate Law Group, a boutique litigation firm in Bellevue.

In his early career, he learned standard aggressive positional bargaining techniques. Even then, emphasis was placed on using creativity to achieve optimum outcomes. Now he primarily uses integrative bargaining techniques. He focuses on efficiently meeting his clients’ core needs, which almost always go beyond the legal issues they face. Though this primary negotiating experience pertains to litigation, he has also negotiated leases and other complex agreements.

He has mediated hundreds of cases on behalf of clients and completed the “Mediating the Litigated Case” course at Pepperdine University. He served as a mediator in the King County Dispute Resolution Center’s Landlord/Tenant program.

Mr. Muchinsky’s lifelong interest in teaching has spanned his many passions, including standardized test preparation, CLE’s, baseball and improv comedy.
