Working inside William H. Gates Hall feels like a full-circle career moment for Annie Kuo Becker. She started her public relations career at Edelman in 2005 ghost-writing attorney byline articles and managing media relations for Preston Gates & Ellis LLP, the law firm that is now K&L Gates. Though originally striding toward law school, she pivoted to obtain her master's degree in Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) at Northwestern University, where she was editor-in-chief of the 2008 Journal of IMC. She now enjoys learning about aspects of the law through hosting the Discovery podcast and writing content centered around UW Law's alumni, faculty, staff and students.

Before joining the marketing and communications team at the UW School of Law, Annie was the Director of Marketing Communications for the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the UW School of Medicine. In her role, she served as the chief department liaison for marcom projects supporting a priority service line called the UW Medicine Center for Women & Children. Within the department, Annie supported the launch of Ob-Gyn's new department website and social media channels, a fertility package discount for employees across all UW campuses, and a Whole U webinar series during the pandemic.

Throughout her career, Annie has been recognized by the industry with awards such as Outstanding Young Professional and Outstanding Community Service, both by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Puget Sound chapter. In 2023, she was featured in PR Week's silver anniversary issue as one of The LAGRANT Foundation's top 25 distinguished scholarship alumni from the past 25 years.

Annie is an active public speaker and advocate for the infertility community and men's health awareness. She has appeared in three books, one documentary film, NBC News, The Seattle Times and Huffington Post, and on the Town Hall stage giving an Ignite Seattle talk. Annie is a remarried widow with a wonderful, blended family that came together after she launched a social meetup called Club Wid.
