Global Innovation Law Summit
The Global Innovation Law Summit ("GILS") focuses on recent controversies and issues drawn from the news of the past year.
The most recent GILS, "Innovation Policy Issues in the Headline News and Global Patent Law," took place on July 14, 2017, and featured a half day on the problem of fake news and the technology sector's rights and responsibilities with respect to combating it, from immunity for internet providers, the role of journalists in the platform ecosystem and the First Amendment issues involved in fake news.
Additionally, GILS featured a panel on Brexit and the intellectual property and innovation policy issues that Brexit will likely produce or affect. GILS concluded with a panel on global patent law that included distinguished speakers from around the world.
The day offered a deep practical analysis relevant for lawyers in the United States and beyond, as well as teeing up stimulating theoretical questions of profound interest for all those interested in innovation and the law’s role in shaping it.
