Global Business Law Institute appoints new chair, members to Industry Advisory Board

The UW School of Law is proud to announce David Zapolsky, senior vice president, general counsel and secretary at Amazon, has been appointed chair of the Global Business Law Institute Industry Advisory Board.
Gov. Christine Gregoire, chief executive officer of Challenge Seattle, and Gov. Gary Locke, senior advisor and consultant at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, were appointed as board members.
Matt LeMaster, chair of M&A practice at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, and Jeannine D’Amico Lemker, assistant general counsel in Microsoft’s Office of Legal Compliance, were named co-directors of the Global Business Law Institute.
This dynamic board complements UW Law’s teaching and scholarship to provide students with an educational experience that is unique and life-changing.
“Seattle has a vibrant business community, with world leaders in global manufacturing, IT, retail and economic commerce,” said Scott Schumacher, co-director of the Global Business Law Institute and UW Law’s associate dean for Academic Administration.

The Global Business Law Institute helps ensure a new generation of business lawyers gain the skills to work in a global marketplace. The institute positions UW Law at the center of this impact through its focus on teaching, research, scholarship, policy and practice relating to global business law.
The institute builds on UW Law’s strengths in comparative law and international programs, and it benefits from the school’s longstanding global network of companies, firms and universities.
