Public Interest Spotlight: Bill Schrader, 2L

UW Law student Bill Schrader 2L spent this past summer in the Law Offices of the Public Defender, 12th Judicial District, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He joined a team of passionate, dedicated attorneys, and he was immersed in an environment powered by the relentless pursuit of justice for clients, regardless of guilt or innocence.

The Public Interest Law Association (PILA) fellowship he earned helped Schrader pay for childcare and lodging, enabling him to temporarily relocate to small border town. The experience was transformative, and in one particular case, Schrader's work made a direct impact on a client's life in a way that further cemented his passion for public defense.

Watch to learn more about the case and hear about Bill's experience as a PILA fellow.
