Professor Eric Schnapper Provides Testimony During Senate Judiciary Subcommittee Hearing
On Wednesday, March 8, 2023, the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Privacy, Technology and the Law held a hearing entitled “Platform Accountability: Gonzalez and Reform.” The hearing was held to examine social media platform accountability and the opportunity for reform of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act which currently protects platforms from what their users say on their websites.
University of Washington School of Law Professor Eric Schnapper was one of the witnesses who provided testimony during the hearing. Schnapper was joined by Mary Anne Franks, Professor of Law and Michael R. Klein Scholar Chair of the University of Miami, Miami, Florida; Hary Farid, Professor of Information and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at University of California Berkley, Berkley, California; Jennifer Bennett, Principal, Gupta Wessler PLLC, San Francisco, California; and Andrew Sullivan, President and CEO, Internet Society, Reston, Virgina.
