“Got a Minute?” with Eleanor Eagan, 3L
Welcome to UW Law’s “Got a Minute?” series. These are fun, short-answer interviews with 20 rapid-fire questions. We’ll find students throughout William H. Gates Hall as they study, wait for class or hangout with their classmates.
This week’s “Got a Minute?” interview is with Eleanor Eagan, 3L.
UW Law: Are you originally from Seattle? If not, where?
Eleanor Eagan (EE): I'm from Charlotte, Vermont. It's just outside of Burlington.
UW Law: What's one interesting fact about where you're from?
EE: Soft serve in Vermont is special. They're called “creamies” and they have higher butter fat content than anywhere else, so they're creamier and more delicious.
UW Law: What was the first case you were cold called on and how did it go?
EE: It was a tort case. I don't remember the name right now, but it was about someone driving off of a bridge.
UW Law: Which classroom is better, room 133 or 138?
EE: 133.
UW Law: Which professor would you recommend to host SNL?
EE: I'll go with Professor Wildermuth. There's a lot of energy there.
UW Law: Without looking, how many glass structures are in the courtyard?
EE: Three. Maybe four. Four.
UW Law: Which class have you laughed the most in?
EE: Probably in the Regulatory and Environmental Law Clinic. We chat a lot and share stories.
UW Law: How many different Law & Order TV shows have there been?
EE: I, genuinely, have no idea. [Laughs] Uh, 10.
UW Law: Good guess — eight. Tell us something you learned in class that blew your mind.
EE: I feel like the things that have blown my mind the most are from torts. There’s nothing specific, but I was always shocked in that class by the number of things that were likely to kill you.
UW Law: What's your favorite time slot for class?
EE: Probably 10:30 to 12:20. I don't want to be here too early, if I can help it, and also not too late.
UW Law: Are you an umbrella or raincoat type of person?
EE: Raincoat. I can't be bothered to carry an umbrella. [Laughs]
UW Law: What's your favorite spot to get a bite of food nearby?
EE: I like the Korean Tofu House.
UW Law: Name one professor that should give a TED Talk and the topic.
EE: Oh, I would love to hear a TED Talk from Professor Mannheim analyzing Justice Kennedy since she clerked for him. I'm fascinated by his mind.
UW Law: Which professors are listed first and last alphabetically in the directory?
EE: Professor Ambrose is going to be my guess for number one, and Professor Zang for the second one.
UW Law: Ambrose is correct, but Zang is not. What was the most recent class you attended?
EE: Pre-trial practice with Professor Bailey.
UW Law: What was a highlight from that class?
EE: In class today we did a simulated mediation for the fake case that we’re working on all quarter long.
UW Law: How old is UW Law?
EE: 125 years old. I got a cupcake today for that.
UW Law: What area of law would you like to pursue after you get your JD?
EE: I’m going into plaintiff side class action litigation after school.
UW Law: Name one member of the legal field that you admire.
EE: I admire Justice Jackson. I think she's taken an interesting path to the court and is charting some interesting new territory in terms of jurisprudence.
UW Law: Finally, what’s one interesting fact about you that people may not know?
EE: I enjoy sewing and have been working on slowly replacing things in my wardrobe with things that I've made for myself.
