New Law Students Arrive
The University of Washington School of Law welcomed its newest cohorts of J.D. and graduate (LL.M., M.J. and Ph.D.) students on Monday, Sept. 16, as part of the weeklong Orientation activities.
The opening day engaged students with a series of sessions designed to introduce them to the UW Law community and resources. J.D. students were greeted by Tamara F. Lawson, the Toni Rembe Dean, and Dow Constantine, King County Executive, who underscored the significance of their upcoming journey. Graduate students received a similarly warm welcome from Terry J. Price, Associate Dean for Student Affairs, and Kayla Fencl, Assistant Director of Student Life. The students then participated in community-building activities, discussions on the Honor Code and insights into the profession from the Washington State Bar Association and the King County Bar Association.
After a break and a lunch hosted by the Student Bar Association, both groups delved into sessions on reading and briefing the law, library overviews and campus safety resources. The day concluded with opportunities to connect with current students and learn about student life and wellness resources, as well as setting the stage for a supportive and enriching academic year ahead.
The week wraps up with the annual Law Dawg Community Picnic that hosts students, staff and faculty in the William H. Gates Hall courtyard.
