Justice Colleen Melody Appointed to Washington Supreme Court
Dear School of Law Community,
I am delighted to share that UW Law Alumna Colleen Melody has been appointed to the Washington Supreme Court. Justice Melody is a native of Spokane, a Double Dawg and a former Gates Scholar who graduated first in her class. She will be joining Justice Raquel Montoya-Lewis also an UW Law alumna currently on the Washington Supreme Court bench.
Justice Melody, a stalwart of the Attorney General’s Office, led the Wing Luke Civil Rights Division from its inception when Governor Ferguson created it in 2015 in his role as Attorney General. Justice Melody will succeed Justice Yu following Yu’s retirement at the end of the year.
Congratulations to Justice Colleen Melody!
Go Law Dawgs!
Warmly,
