Madrona Venture Group participants

Students from the University of Washington School of Law’s Global Business Law Institute (GBLI) and Entrepreneurial Law Clinic (ELC) joined peers from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law’s West Coast Initiative for an immersive, practice-focused program at Madrona Venture Group in April.

The event brought together leading investors and attorneys to demystify the venture capital landscape and provide students with direct access to the professionals driving today’s startup economy.

Through an engaging panel with the managing directors of Madrona Venture Group, students gained insight into the strategic thinking and decision-making that shape venture investment at the highest levels. Following a networking luncheon, students heard from leading venture capital lawyers and general counsel from firms including Madrona Venture Group, Frazier Life Sciences, Technology Crossover Ventures (TCV), Andreessen Horowitz and TIL Partners, who discussed the evolving role of legal advisors in high-growth companies.

Students explored topics ranging from structuring deals to scaling global businesses, using artificial intelligence in practice, while building meaningful professional networks with peers, attorneys and business leaders at the forefront of emerging companies.

“Great event! Madrona and the VCs pulled back the curtain on emerging AI platforms transforming law firm operations; VC attorneys shared practical, experience-based career advice for students. An engaging and highly valuable discussion all around!”
