Announcing Professional Mediation Skills Training 2026
The University of Washington School of Law 36-Hour Professional Mediation Skills Training is an immersive, skills-based program designed for professionals who want to strengthen their conflict management and mediation expertise within a rigorous academic and practical framework.
Taught by UW School of Law faculty and experienced mediation practitioners, the training integrates evidence-based theory with extensive hands-on learning. Over 36 hours, participants develop the ability to assess conflict dynamics, build rapport with parties, manage strong emotions, facilitate structured dialogue, and guide negotiations toward durable, self-determined agreements. Through interactive simulations, coached role plays, and structured feedback, participants practice the full mediation process—from opening statements through agreement drafting—while refining core competencies in communication, neutrality, and ethical decision-making.
This training is well suited for attorneys, human resources professionals, dispute resolution practitioners, university administrators, academic leaders, managers, and others who regularly navigate complex conflict or seek to enhance their capacity to lead solution-focused conversations. The course also satisfies widely recognized professional mediation training requirements.
Whether you aim to expand your professional toolkit, meet court or organizational training standards, or deepen your leadership effectiveness, this UW School of Law program offers a respected credential and practical skills you can apply immediately.
Enrollment is limited to ensure individualized coaching and meaningful practice. Registration will open in June 2026.
