Academic Success Programs Resources for Learners: Bar Updates

Bar Preparation Companies

When it comes to choosing a company, it’s a good idea to check them out and see what works for you. Bar preparation companies generally offer free MPRE prep course as well as 1L (and sometimes upper-level) study aids. Each year, UW Law invites bar preparation companies to a forum to discuss their products.

Bar Admission Generally

In addition to a bar examination, there are character, fitness and other qualifications for admission to the bar in every U.S. jurisdiction. Applicants are encouraged to determine the requirements for any jurisdiction in which they intend to seek admission by contacting the jurisdiction. Addresses for all relevant agencies are available through the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) which maintains a list of all state bar exam websites.

2021 Bar Exams

Washington State: The Washington Supreme Court issued an order authorizing the Washington State Bar Association to administer the Summer 2021 bar exam remotely. A remote exam means that you will be able to take the exam using your computer at any location with a reliable internet connection. There will not be an in-person exam in Yakima as previously scheduled. In addition, the court temporarily lowered the minimum passing score for the UBE to 266. The minimum passing score of 266 also applies to applicants transferring a July 2021 UBE score from another jurisdiction. We will provide additional information here as it becomes available.
